About Your Team Leader

Your team leader, Tash, the director of DevOps, is a mission-driven technologist who joined Mercy For Animals in February 2020 after having held various technical and leadership positions in the arts and cultural nonprofit community for 13 years. She believes that a strong technology strategy and its effective implementation are vital for mission-driven organizations to maximize their impact. As a former database administrator, she is highly detailed and risk aware. As a former CRM strategist, she is always looking to the future—keeping her eye on where we want to be so we can identify opportunities and grow in the right direction.

She values a growth mindset and promotes a healthy work-life balance. And as someone who “thinks out loud,” she encourages people to voice even so-called bad ideas—because you never know where inspiration might come from.

Outside the world of Mercy For Animals, your team leader enjoys creating abstract art, spending time with her six (foster fail) cats, cooking, participating in social justice causes, and watching stand-up comedy.

Compensation and Benefits

Earn an annual salary of $80,000–$89,500 (in the United States*), depending on qualifications. About Your Team Leader

Your team leader, Jesse (he/him), is the senior vice president of programs. Originally from Australia, Jesse joined Mercy For Animals in January 2019 and now lives in Northern California. He oversees our global programs teams. Jesse has over two decades’ experience in advocacy, campaigns, and communications for animals. Before joining Mercy For Animals, he was the director of farmed animal advocacy at Animals Australia, where he ran campaigns, led protests, developed communications strategies, and oversaw volunteer outreach.

Jesse is inspired by strategy and big ideas to have the greatest impact we can for animals. He values a growth mindset, open and authentic communication, emotional intelligence, and a good sense of humor. He believes in empowering the people around him, offering a sounding board and support where useful, but supporting others to own their work and be the experts in their domain. He strives to create a space for team members to bring their whole selves to work and feel comfortable to take risks and innovate.

Jesse loves to travel and learn about cultures. He learned Portuguese while living in Brazil and knows some Spanish. Outside Mercy For Animals, he enjoys outdoor adventures (hiking, biking, snowshoeing) with his wife and their dog, Nina. He is an avid audiobook listener, enjoys juggling, and will gladly play board games with anyone who is willing.
