Strategy, Impact & Research

Remote in the United States, Mexico, or Brazil

Mercy For Animals aims to construct a compassionate food system by reducing suffering and ending the exploitation of animals for food. We envision a world where animals are respected, protected, and free to pursue their own interests.

As a leading farmed animal advocacy organization, we know that achieving this goal requires a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment—one that welcomes and sparks new perspectives and innovative ideas. If you are passionate about our mission, driven to make a big impact for animals, and eager to be part of a dedicated team, join us to help spread compassion around the globe.

We are currently seeking a paid-acquisition specialist to join our marketing team. In this role, you will help build and maintain online audiences through social ad campaigns, search ad campaigns, and online petition and social networking platforms (Care2, Change.org, etc.).

You will do invaluable work:

  • Develop, execute, and measure the effectiveness of Mercy For Animals’ PPC strategies through an integrated approach to search, growing your expertise across a variety of paid channels (search, social, display, etc.)
  • Target new supporters and re-engage lapsed supporters through an integrated approach to search, social, and other paid-acquisition efforts
  • Maintain lists and report on new list-building initiatives on Change.org, Care2.com, and similar online petition and social networking platforms
  • Target new donors, advocates, and volunteers across multiple platforms in Mercy For Animals’ markets of operation, including the United States, Latin America, Brazil, India, and emerging markets in Asia
  • Create and maintain a Google Ad Grants account in Mercy For Animals’ regions of operation, including the United States, Latin America, Brazil, India, and emerging markets in Asia
  • Be prepared to test and reiterate digital ads to find the right audience fit
  • Develop and spearhead strategies for establishing robust ad campaigns for initiatives focused on corporate engagement, government affairs and public policy, movement building, and organizational development
  • Analyze paid-acquisition and retention data, identify trends, assess against ROI and KPIs, and generate reports for internal stakeholders
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform any other duties assigned by team lead

Your qualifications will take our marketing team to the next level:

  • Junior-level experience (or two years in the United States) in digital ad creation and management
  • Firm grasp of web-based user experience, web best practices, and site analytics, as well as SEM/PPC/SEO and digital marketing strategies and procedures
  • Understanding of the critical role of copy in a strong digital presence
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (Spanish or Portuguese a plus)
  • Experience communicating successes and opportunities to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven skill in tracking and post-project analysis to determine opportunities and iterate successes and creative learnings
  • Experience or interest in online creative writing, animal welfare content, marketing, or advertising and managing various deliverables
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice

Is this the right fit? Absolutely, if this sounds like you:

I’m a highly motivated person with an interest in strategy and engagement through digital marketing campaigns. I’m dedicated to my work and committed to collaboration and compassion. I feel passionately about Mercy For Animals’ mission and vision to construct a more compassionate food system.

About Your Team Leader

Your team leader, the digital marketing manager, brings invaluable experience in startups, agencies, and international NGOs to his role at Mercy For Animals. He believes that for modern nonprofit development to be effective, efforts must extend beyond vanity metrics to connecting and retaining donor, advocate, and volunteer interest through a strong supporter-centric experience.

A lover of testing, he knows that marketing—paid acquisition, in particular—is about trying new ideas and iterating on them, and as long as we come out the other end of things with lessons learned, we keep charging forward! He is transparent and not given to micromanagement; he trusts, encourages, and supports his team’s autonomy.

In his free time, he likes to play guitar and be outside with his pup. He has been trying to learn to surf, which only sometimes goes well…

Compensation and Benefits *

Earn an hourly rate of $20.00–$23.00 (in the United States), depending on qualifications. In addition to a collaborative and innovative work environment, you will be able to take part in our benefits package, including no- or low-cost health, vision, and dental insurance; generous paid time off and sick leave; and 401(k) retirement plan, with a dollar-to-dollar employer match of up to 3 percent of your annual earnings.

*Benefits and salary outside the United States will be shared early in the interview process.

Application Details

We consider traditional and nontraditional qualifications and carefully review each application, resume, and cover letter. Feel encouraged to go outside a traditional cover letter and state how you would add to our culture; what we would gain from having you on our team; and how you align with our organizational vision, mission, and values.

Our Commitment to You

Mercy For Animals is a globally minded organization. We are committed to the principles of equity and justice, and our culture celebrates authenticity—enabling every team member to shine. All employment decisions are based solely on individual qualifications, job needs, and job requirements, and potential team members of every color, orientation, age, gender, origin, veteran status, and ability are encouraged to apply. Come as you are, and help us transform our society and construct a truly compassionate food system.
